The Dutch Darts Championship Takes Center Stage
The Euro Tour is heading to the Netherlands this weekend, as the Dutch Darts Championship takes center stage from Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26. This event, held in Rosmalen, is a home tournament for darts superstar Michael van Gerwen, who lives just a 15-minute drive away.
A Rotating Venue
The Dutch Darts Championship has been a part of the Euro Tour calendar since 2018, but the PDC has yet to find a permanent venue, with the event being held at different locations each year. In 2018, Ian White defeated Ricky Evans in the final in Maastricht, while in 2022, Michael Smith beat Danny Noppert in Zwolle. Last year, Dave Chisnall claimed the title by defeating Luke Humphries in Leeuwarden.
A Star-Studded Field
This year’s edition features a star-studded field, despite the absence of some big names like Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, and Nathan Aspinall. However, the darts giant Michael van Gerwen will be in attendance, along with other well-known Dutch players like Dirk van Duijvenbode, Raymond van Barneveld, Danny Noppert, and Gian van Veen.
The top international players participating include Dave Chisnall, the defending champion, Gerwyn Price, Stephen Bunting, Peter Wright, Jonny Clayton, and James Wade.
Broadcast and Prize Money
The tournament will be broadcast live on PDCTV, with the afternoon sessions starting at 12:00 and the evening sessions at 18:00.
With a total prize pool of £175,000, the winner of the 2024 Dutch Darts Championship will take home £30,000. The top-16 seeded players will receive £2,500 just for entering the second round, while the first-round qualifiers will earn at least £1,250.
As Darts enthusiasts eagerly await the action, all eyes will be on Michael van Gerwen to see if he can claim his first Euro Tour title of the season in front of his hometown crowd.
