Mickey Mansell Survives Thrilling Encounter Against Peter Wright at European Darts Grand Prix
On Friday night, Mickey Mansell stunned the crowd at the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen with a hard-fought 6-5 victory over former world champion Peter Wright. Mansell, who admitted he would have been “gutted” had he lost, was in control throughout the match, showcasing his impressive form.
Despite Wright’s recent resurgence, the match proved to be a struggle for the seasoned player. “Even then, it is still a player to be reckoned with,” said Mansell. “Until the last leg, he had 71% on his doubles. He’s always in with a chance for the win.”
Mansell, who felt he was “playing well” and that his “throw was there,” found it challenging to find his first dart consistently. “Then everything I was doing to adjust was complicating matters,” he explained. However, as the game progressed, Mansell knew he was getting chances and was determined not to let them slip away.
In the Second Round
In the second round, Mansell will face off against the fourth-seeded Damon Heta. “I will have to raise my level a bit to have a chance against him,” Mansell admitted. “If that works out, it will definitely be a great match.”
