Sweden Off to a Winning Start in 2024 World Cup of Darts
In the opening match of the 2024 World Cup of Darts, the Swedish duo of Jeffrey de Graaf and Oskar Lukasiak put on an impressive display, swiftly defeating their Spanish opponents Jose Justicia and Jesus Noguera 4-0. The Swedish pair showcased their prowess, recording a combined average of over 98 points, a stark contrast to the 83 points scored by the Spanish team.
“We can’t complain,” a delighted De Graaf told Online Darts following the match. “We know we can play some really good darts together, and we want to show everyone.”
Lukasiak echoed his teammate’s sentiments, highlighting their desire to make a statement on the international stage.
Last year, Sweden reached the quarter-finals with Lukasiak and Dennis Nilsson. Now paired with De Graaf, who is making his debut, Lukasiak expressed confidence in his new partner, stating, “I don’t think I can give him any advice.” However, De Graaf, who was born in the Netherlands, acknowledged the added pressure of representing Sweden.
“It is extra pressure, but it’s also a big honor, especially next to someone who’s been doing it for a decade almost,” he said.
Determined to make a positive impact, De Graaf emphasized, “I feel good, and we have a good team. I mostly just don’t want to disappoint the Swedish people. But I’m playing good darts recently, and as long as I play my game, it’ll be alright.”
