The Second-Round Action Heats Up at the 2024 European Darts Open in Leverkusen
As the European Darts Open 2024 tournament continues in Leverkusen, the second-round matches are set to captivate darts enthusiasts this Saturday afternoon.
The action-packed afternoon session will feature no fewer than three Dutch players vying for a spot in the last sixteen of this prestigious Euro Tour event. The proceedings kick off with an intriguing clash between Gian van Veen and Andy Baetens.
Next up, reigning Masters champion Stephen Bunting will face off against Kevin Trappmann, while third seed Damon Heta takes on Dom Taylor. The fourth match of the day promises to be a thrilling encounter between Ryan Searle and two-time major winner Daryl Gurney.
“As usual, the European Darts Open will be broadcast live by PDC TV, with the afternoon sessions kicking off at 12 p.m. and the evening sessions starting at 6 p.m. on all three tournament days.”
Chris Dobey will then take on Jeffrey de Graaf, while Dave Chisnall meets Luke Woodhouse. Rounding out the afternoon, Ross Smith will play against Callan Rydz, who received a walkover after Nico Kurz’s withdrawal. The final match of the day pits Ricardo Pietreczko against Kevin Doets.
The first round was played on Friday, with the 16 Order of Merit qualifiers and winners from various qualifying tournaments taking the stage. The top-16 seeded players, including the three Dutchmen mentioned, will enter the fray on Saturday for the second-round matches.
Sunday’s action will see the tournament reach its climax, starting with the third-round matches in the afternoon, followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the grand final in the evening.
A total prize pool of 175,000 pounds is up for grabs at the 2024 European Darts Open, with the winner taking home a hefty 30,000 pounds. All participants are guaranteed at least 1,250 pounds, while the top-16 seeded players will receive 2,500 pounds for reaching the second round.
