The opening day of the European Darts Open in Leverkusen witnessed several thrilling matchups, with Michael Smith, Luke Woodhouse, Dirk van Duijvenbode, and Dimitri van den Bergh emerging victorious to secure their spots in the Last 16.
In a nail-biting encounter, Michael Smith survived a match dart at the bull from James Wade, narrowly avoiding an early upset. Smith, who averaged 97 and hit two 180s with a high checkout of 116, edged past Wade, who played an impressive game, including a 125 checkout and back-to-back 102 and 121 checkouts.
