On Thursday, PDC Tour Card holders will have the chance to qualify for the upcoming German Darts Championship through a qualifying tournament. This ninth Euro Tour event of the season will feature ten starting spots up for grabs.
Qualification System
The qualification system for this year’s German Darts Championship in Hildesheim (August 30 – September 1) is different from last season. Instead of 24 starting spots, there will only be 10 available, as the top-16 players from the Pro Tour rankings and the top-16 from the world rankings are already automatically qualified.
This means that a total of 32 players have already secured their place in the German Darts Championship, including the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Luke Littler, Dave Chisnall, Michael Smith, Gary Anderson, Nathan Aspinall, Peter Wright, and Dimitri van den Bergh.
The qualifying tournament on Thursday will provide the remaining PDC Tour Card holders with an opportunity to compete for the 10 available starting spots in Hildesheim. This shift in the qualification system is in line with the changes implemented for the 2023 Euro Tour season.
