Darts Enthusiasts Eagerly Await 2024 World Matchplay as Participants Confirmed
The highly anticipated lineup for the 2024 World Matchplay Darts tournament has been officially unveiled following the conclusion of Players Championship 14. The prestigious event, set to take place from July 13 to 21, 2024, will feature 32 of the world’s top darts players competing for the coveted title.
Reigning world champion Luke Humphries headlines the seedings list, as the young Englishman aims to further cement his place among the sport’s elite. Closely behind him is perennial contender Michael van Gerwen, the Dutch superstar who can only face Humphries in the final as the number two seed.
“The top-16 seeded players also include a host of familiar names, such as Michael Smith, Gerwyn Price, Nathan Aspinall, Rob Cross, Dave Chisnall, and Dimitri van den Bergh, among others.”
These seasoned professionals will be paired with qualifiers from the Pro Tour rankings, which include the likes of Gary Anderson, Josh Rock, Ryan Searle, and the returning Raymond van Barneveld.
Notably, the 2024 World Matchplay will see five darts debutants take the stage at the iconic Winter Gardens in Blackpool, further adding to the excitement and unpredictability of the event. The draw for the tournament is set to be conducted on Thursday, July 4, with the playing schedule to be announced by the PDC in the coming days.
