Luke Humphries Reclaims Lead in Thrilling 2024 Premier League Darts Race
In a captivating turn of events, Luke Humphries has regained the top spot in the 2024 Premier League Darts standings. The Englishman, known as ‘Cool Hand Luke,’ lost in the semifinals on Thursday night in Rotterdam, but that result was enough to see him overtake his compatriot Luke Littler.
Both players are currently on 26 points, but Humphries’ superior number of weekly titles has earned him the leading position for now. Littler suffered a defeat in his opening match against Michael Smith on Thursday.
Smith would eventually reach the final, but ultimately fell to Nathan Aspinall. ‘The Asp‘ has therefore moved into third place, leapfrogging Michael van Gerwen, who was knocked out by Humphries earlier in the evening.
Aspinall now sits on 23 points, followed closely by Van Gerwen with 22 points. Smith is in fifth place with 20 points.
A significant gap then separates the top five from the chasing pack, with Gerwyn Price on 12 points, Rob Cross on 11 points, and Peter Wright languishing in eighth place with just 4 points.
For Wright, a playoff spot appears to be an increasingly distant prospect, while Price and Cross will also have an uphill battle to secure their place in the postseason.
The race for the 2024 Premier League Darts title promises to be a thrilling one, with Humphries and Littler leading the way and a host of talented players vying for the coveted trophy.
