Darts fans are abuzz with excitement as the first ten participants for the highly anticipated 2024 Grand Slam of Darts have been announced. This prestigious event, one of the biggest tournaments of the year, will feature a field of 32 elite players.
Qualifying for the Grand Slam
Qualifying for the Grand Slam of Darts can be achieved through various pathways:
Several players have secured their spots by reaching the finals of televised tournaments, including Luke Humphries, the reigning world champion, Luke Littler, the Premier League Darts winner, and Stephen Bunting, the Masters champion. Dimitri van den Bergh, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Michael van Gerwen, Rowby-John Rodriguez, and Mensur Suljovic have also qualified through this route.
Players who have won titles on the Euro Tour and Players Championship circuits are provisionally qualified. Dave Chisnall, Josh Rock, Gary Anderson, and Martin Schindler have secured their spots through Euro Tour triumphs, while Jonny Clayton, Damon Heta, and Danny Noppert have done so by winning on the Players Championship.
The remaining qualifiers include Gian van Veen, who reached the final of the 2023 PDC World Youth Championship, as well as the winners of the PDC Challenge Tour, PDC Development Tour, PDC Asian Championship, CDC Continental Cup, Women’s World Matchplay, and PDC Women’s Series.
