The darts enthusiast, affectionately known as ‘Smudger’, emerged victorious in a thrilling 8-7 final against Dutchman Wesley Plaisier at Players Championship 13 in Milton Keynes.
The day’s highlight was undoubtedly Smith’s exceptional performance, as he recorded the highest average of 107.35 in the final match against Plaisier. Interestingly, Plaisier himself achieved the third-highest average of the day, with an impressive 104.79 in the final showdown.
Impressive Performances
Adding to the excitement, Krzysztof Ratajski showcased his prowess by registering the second-highest average of 104.86 in a convincing 6-0 win over Martijn Dragt in the last 32. However, Ratajski’s run was cut short in the last 16, where he succumbed to a 6-4 defeat against Andrew Gilding.
Plaisier, who does not possess a Tour Card but was granted entry into the Players Championship due to his strong performance on the Challenge Tour, delivered a remarkable tournament. The 34-year-old darter achieved a remarkable 100+ average in a remarkable four out of his seven matches, cementing his place among the top 15 highest averages of the day.
