Kiel, Germany – In a thrilling display of skill and precision, former world champion Rob Cross emerged victorious at the recently concluded Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel. The high-stakes tournament saw Cross defeat reigning world champion Luke Humphries 8-6 in the final, showcasing his prowess on the oche.
Impressive Performances Throughout the Event
Cross, affectionately known as “Voltage,” delivered a series of impressive performances throughout the event. He opened his campaign with a commanding 6-2 win over Maik Kuivenhoven, posting an average of 102.59. The Englishman then went on to defeat Stephen Bunting (6-5, 103.21 average) and Ritchie Edhouse (6-5, 97.61 average) before overcoming Madars Razma 7-4 with a 99.00 average.
Thrilling Final against the World Champion
In the thrilling final, Cross faced off against world champion Luke Humphries, emerging victorious with an impressive average of 105.56. The victory was all the more significant as Cross’ tournament average stood at an exceptional 101.59, while Humphries also maintained a tournament average above 100 at 100.17.
Elite Company with Exceptional Achievements
Cross’ dominant display was further highlighted by his impressive tally of eighteen 180 scores, accounting for 44.59% of his darts at doubles. This achievement places him among an elite group of just eight players since 2018 to win a Euro Tour tournament with a tournament average exceeding 100, a list that includes the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, and Gerwyn Price.
