Darts Enthusiasts Await Exciting World Cup as Netherlands Sends Five Players
The upcoming World Cup of Darts is set to be a thrilling event, with the Netherlands sending a formidable contingent of five players to compete. While the country is still represented by a single team, the increased Dutch presence is due to three players representing other nations.
Michael van Gerwen and Danny Noppert will don the iconic orange of the Netherlands, aiming to capture the country’s first World Cup title since 2018. The Dutch duo previously reached the quarter-finals in the tournament, and they will be eager to go even further this time around.
However, the Netherlands’ increased representation at the World Cup extends beyond their main team. Three other Dutch players – Jeffrey de Graaf, Cor Dekker, and Jules van Dongen – will be competing for Sweden, Norway, and the United States, respectively.
“De Graaf, who was born in the Dutch municipality of Den Helder, has been darting under the Swedish flag since 2023, after moving to the Scandinavian country in 2018 due to his girlfriend’s residency there. He will team up with Oskar Lukasiak, who reached the quarter-finals last year.”
Van Dongen, known as ‘The Dutch Dragon,’ has been a resident of the United States for over a decade and has been competing under the American flag for several years. He will be paired with Danny Lauby Jr. for this year’s World Cup.
Dekker, making his return to the World Cup of Darts after an eight-year hiatus, will represent Norway. He previously teamed up with Robert Wagner in 2016, winning their opening-round match against Gibraltar.
The diverse representation of Dutch players across multiple nations adds an intriguing dynamic to the upcoming World Cup of Darts, as fans eagerly anticipate the performances of these talented individuals.
