Nathan Aspinall Emerges Victorious on Night 12 of the 2024 Premier League Darts
In a thrilling display, Nathan Aspinall secured his second consecutive triumph in Rotterdam at the 2024 Premier League Darts event. This marks the second weekly title for Aspinall this year, although he has also faced three tough defeats in finals.
“I’ve played in Rotterdam twice and I’ve won here twice,” Aspinall reflected after the match. “The game against Luke [Humphries] was massive. It gave me a shot against Michael [Smith] to try and open the gap, and that was a big win. I thought I played well. I felt like I controlled the final. I wasn’t amazing, but my 140s were brilliant, and I know if I’m scoring well, there aren’t many people that can beat me.”
Despite his victory, Aspinall expressed some concerns about the conditions inside the Ahoy arena. “Rotterdam is probably the worst out of the 16 venues. It’s not great, but I can’t say what I’m about to say,” Aspinall noted cautiously in his post-match press conference.
In the Premier League Darts standings, Aspinall’s win has propelled him to the third position. “Last year I missed out [on the Play-Offs] on nightly wins and I was on 24 points. We said a few weeks ago 26 was the target, but looking at the table, I think that might be a push!” Aspinall concluded optimistically.
Reflecting on the Overall Excitement
Reflecting on the overall excitement of the Premier League Darts this year, Aspinall praised his fellow competitors. “It’s the most enjoyable one I’ve been involved in, and there’s still a lot to play for.”
