In a thrilling display of darts prowess, Gian van Veen has advanced to the quarterfinals of the European Darts Open, securing a convincing 6-1 victory over seasoned veteran Raymond van Barneveld. The 22-year-old ‘GVV The Giant‘ dominated the Dutch clash at the Euro Tour tournament in Leverkusen, showcasing his exceptional skills.
Van Barneveld, a five-time world champion, started the match by winning the first leg, but Van Veen quickly seized control. The rising star took the lead with a 13-darter and a 74 finish, followed by a 12-darter to make it 3-1. Despite Van Barneveld’s efforts to reduce the deficit, Van Veen’s consistent performance, including a 15-darter in the sixth leg, secured his lead and ultimately the match.
