The 11th Edition of the European Darts Open
The 11th edition of the European Darts Open, the eighth European Tour tournament of the 2023 season, kicks off on Friday, June 21st, at 12:00 BST in Leverkusen. This event is the last European Tour tournament before the summer break.
First-Round Action
The first-round action features the Order of Merit Qualifiers and winners from various qualifying tournaments. Radek Szaganski takes on Dom Taylor in the opening match, followed by Karel Sedlacek facing Matthew Dennant. The exciting duel between Jamie Hughes and Dylan Slevin will determine who faces Michael van Gerwen in the second round.
New and Returning Participants
The tournament’s first Dutch participant, Kevin Doets, will meet Nico Blum, who is making his first Euro Tour appearance since 2018. Ritchie Edhouse aims to reach the second round for the sixth consecutive Euro Tour event, this time against Jan Dueckers. Jeffrey de Graaf squares off against Andrew Gilding, while Andy Baetens battles Nathan Rafferty. The afternoon session concludes with Marko Kantele facing Daryl Gurney.
Broadcast and Tournament Format
The European Darts Open will be broadcast live on PDC TV, with the afternoon sessions starting at 12:00 BST and the evening sessions kicking off at 18:00 BST. The tournament’s format includes three days of play, with the first round on Friday, the top-16 seeded players entering on Saturday, and the tournament concluding with the third round, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals on Sunday.
Prize Pool
A total prize pool of £175,000 will be up for grabs, with the winner receiving £30,000. The first-round participants, including the 16 Order of Merit Qualifiers, will receive at least £1,250, while the top-16 seeded players entering in the second round are guaranteed £2,500.
