Dimitri Van den Bergh Faces Inconsistency in Darts Season, Seeks Redemption at Dutch Darts Masters
Belgian darts sensation Dimitri Van den Bergh is grappling with inconsistent form this year, even after his triumph at the UK Open. As the 29-year-old prepares for the upcoming Dutch Darts Masters this weekend, he remains cautiously optimistic about his prospects.
“I am going there to do my best 100 percent, but we will only know on the day how it will go,” Van den Bergh told Het Nieuwsblad. The “Dreammaker” acknowledged the unpredictable nature of darts, noting that his recent practice sessions have been strong, yet he suffered an early exit at the Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel.
Despite his victory at the UK Open, Van den Bergh has struggled to maintain that momentum. “I played a very nice UK Open and the Masters were very good, but other than that nothing really,” he admitted. The darts star remains determined to work hard and stay patient, hoping that a triumph at a floor tournament will reignite his form.
Lingering injury concerns have also plagued Van den Bergh, as he has been seeking treatment from his physiotherapist for issues with his wrist and throwing arm. “It appears to be an injury that has been dragging on for a while now and keeps coming back,” he stated, though he remains adamant about not taking a break.
As the World Cup of Darts approaches at the end of next month, Van den Bergh’s partnership with Kim Huybrechts remains uncertain, with Belgian number two Mike De Decker also in the mix. “We’ll see, but it’s not ideal in terms of preparation,” Van den Bergh acknowledged, emphasizing the need to keep working hard and remain resilient in the face of the sport’s unpredictability.
