Luke Humphries Clinches First Premier League Victory in Stellar Brighton Performance
Brighton, Thursday, April 13, 2023 – Darts enthusiasts were treated to a thrilling evening of action as Luke Humphries secured his maiden Premier League triumph on the sixth night of the season. The Englishman was in superb form, overcoming Michael Smith in a closely contested 6-3 final.
The evening saw a number of notable performances, with Michael van Gerwen failing to progress past Rob Cross in the opening round. However, the Dutchman maintains his position at the top of the standings.
In the final, Humphries made a strong start, breaking Smith’s throw in the opening leg with a composed 14-dart finish. The two-time major champion responded with a maximum score, but Humphries matched him in the following leg. Smith had chances to level the match, but Humphries held his nerve, eventually closing out the victory with a 101.71 average.

Earlier in the evening, Humphries had produced a stunning display to defeat Gerwyn Price 6-2 in the quarterfinals, averaging over 105. Rob Cross also impressed, recording a 6-2 win over Michael van Gerwen.
In the other quarterfinal clash, Nathan Aspinall was outclassed by Martin Littler, who prevailed 6-3. The final quarter-final saw a tight battle between Peter Wright and Michael Smith, with Smith edging a 6-5 victory in the deciding leg.
The Premier League Darts action continues next week, as the players look to cement their positions in the race for the playoffs. Humphries’ breakthrough victory has undoubtedly set the tone for an enthralling remainder of the campaign.
