Darts Enthusiasts Eagerly Await Spain’s 2024 World Cup of Darts Team
Darts fans in Spain are buzzing with anticipation as the national team for the upcoming 2024 World Cup of Darts has been confirmed. Seasoned veterans Jesús Noguera and José Justicia will once again represent their country, after emerging victorious from the highly competitive Spanish qualifying tournament held just last weekend.
With no Spaniards currently holding permanent spots on the PDC Pro Tour, the qualifying event provided a golden opportunity for dozens of Spanish darters to compete for the chance to don the national colors on the global stage. In the end, it was the well-established names of Noguera and Justicia who rose to the occasion and secured their places on the Spanish team.
The road to the national team was not an easy one, however. Justicia had to fend off former World Cup participant Toni Alcinas in a closely contested 4-3 final, while Noguera prevailed over Angel Pitu, also by a score of 4-3, in the other decisive match.
“For Justicia, this will mark his fourth consecutive appearance in the World Cup of Darts, though he has yet to find great success representing Spain on the international level.”
In 2021, he and Noguera fell 5-4 to South Africa, and in the past two years, Justicia’s partner has been Tony Martinez, with the pair bowing out in the opening round against host nation Germany in 2022.
The 2024 edition of the World Cup of Darts is set to take place from June 27-30 in Frankfurt, Germany. The defending champions are the formidable Welsh duo of Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton, who will be aiming to retain their crown.
As for Spain, they will be hoping that the experienced pairing of Noguera and Justicia can finally unlock the team’s potential and make a deep run in the tournament, delighting darts enthusiasts across the country.
