Darts Masters in Poland: Van Gerwen and Wright Cruise into Quarter-Finals
In the latest installment of the World Series of Darts, two of the sport’s biggest stars, Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright, have effortlessly secured their spots in the quarter-finals of the Poland Darts Masters.
Defending champion ‘MVG’ made light work of his match against Karel Sedlacek, conceding just a single leg in the 6-1 victory. Van Gerwen’s dominant display included a 115 finish in the opening leg, followed by a 17-darter, a 14-darter, and an 18-darter to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Although Sedlacek managed to get on the scoreboard with an 11-darter, Van Gerwen closed out the match with a 72 finish.
Meanwhile, Peter Wright, fondly known as “Snakebite,” experienced little resistance from television debutant Jacek Krupka. The Pole struggled to capitalize on his opportunities, with Wright coasting to a 6-0 victory, including a pair of 23-darters and two 15-darters.
“The Poland Darts Masters is the fifth event on the 2023 World Series of Darts calendar. Previous champions this season include Luke Littler (Bahrain Darts Masters), Michael van Gerwen (Dutch Darts Masters), Rob Cross (US Darts Masters), and Gerwyn Price (Nordic Darts Masters). The tournament in Poland is the penultimate stop before the World Series Finals take place in Amsterdam from September 13-15.”
