Searle and Razma Secure Quarterfinal Spots at Baltic Sea Darts Open
In a thrilling turn of events at the Baltic Sea Darts Open, Ryan Searle and Madars Razma have secured the final two spots in the quarterfinals. Both players managed to overcome their opponents in nail-biting, last-leg deciders on Sunday afternoon.
Searle, the Englishman, proved to be too strong for Northern Ireland’s Daryl Gurney, emerging victorious with a 6-5 scoreline. Gurney had raced to a commanding 4-1 lead, thanks to a magnificent 160 finish, but Searle responded with a 65 and a 130 checkout to claw his way back into the match. A 15-darter put Gurney one leg away from victory, but he failed to capitalize on a match dart in the ninth leg. Searle capitalized on the opportunity, eventually leveling the scores at 5-5 before sealing the win in the final leg.
In a surprising turn of events, Latvian player Madars Razma caused an upset by eliminating the highly-fancied Joe Cullen, ‘The Rockstar’, with an identical 6-5 score. Cullen had also opened up a 5-3 lead, but Razma refused to give in, fighting back to force a deciding leg. In the end, it was Razma who emerged victorious, clinching the win with a superb 96 checkout.
