Michael van Gerwen has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Austrian Darts Open, chasing his first European Tour title of the season in Graz. The Dutch darts sensation secured a 6-4 victory over Peter Wright in a closely contested third-round match.
Despite Wright’s impressive average of 95.50, Van Gerwen managed to outperform his Scottish opponent with an average of 93.92. The Dutchman took an early lead by breaking his rival’s throw in the first leg with a 58 finish and then doubling the advantage. However, Wright fought back, throwing out 96 and 114 to keep himself in the game.
