Despite Wright’s impressive average of 95.50, Van Gerwen managed to outperform his Scottish opponent with an average of 93.92. The Dutchman took an early lead by breaking his rival’s throw in the first leg with a 58 finish and then doubling the advantage. However, Wright fought back, throwing out 96 and 114 to keep himself in the game.
