Zonneveld, who was not even originally scheduled to participate, found himself competing due to late withdrawals by Dimitri van den Bergh and Nathan Aspinall.
Perez, the second Asian player to feature on the Euro Tour, proved to be a formidable opponent. He broke Zonneveld in the third leg, taking a 3-1 lead with a 14-darter and a 600 finish. Zonneveld fought back, leveling the score at 3-3 with two 14-darters of his own. However, Perez reclaimed the advantage with a 12-darter, leading 4-3.
The match remained closely contested, with Zonneveld missing two chances to extend his lead to 5-3. Perez seized the opportunity, tying the score at 4-4 with a 20-darter and then hitting a double 8 to win the match 5-4. In the decisive tenth leg, Perez sealed the victory with an impressive 11-darter.
