The Highly Anticipated 2024 World Matchplay Darts Tournament Set to Take the Stage
Darts enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The 2024 World Matchplay, the prestigious PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) event, is scheduled to take place from Saturday, July 13th to Sunday, July 21st. This thrilling darts spectacle will be broadcast live in the UK on the esteemed Sky Sports network.
Defending champion Nathan Aspinall will look to retain his title, as he takes the stage alongside other top-tier players such as the formidable Michael van Gerwen, who faces Luke Littler in the opening round. Additionally, Michael Smith will square off against Gary Anderson, while Luke Humphries aims to add the World Matchplay crown to his growing collection of accolades.
The broadcast schedule is as follows:
From Saturday, July 13th to Wednesday, July 18th, the action will commence at 7 pm. On Sunday, July 14th, there will be an afternoon session starting at 2 pm. After the second round, the evening session broadcasts will begin an hour earlier, with the quarter-finals kicking off at 8 pm on Thursday and Friday.
The semi-finals on Saturday, July 20th, will also start at 8 pm, while the highly anticipated final on Sunday, July 21st, is scheduled for an 8 pm start time. Immediately following the final, the winner of the 31st edition of the World Matchplay will be crowned.
Adding to the excitement, the third edition of the Women’s World Matchplay will take place on Sunday afternoon, July 21st, starting at 2 pm. Eight talented female darts players will compete for the coveted title at this premier women’s tournament.
