Headlining the tournament is defending champion Jeff “The Silencer” Smith, who narrowly secured his spot through a qualifying tournament. Smith, a fan-favorite, will be looking to defend his title and cement his legacy as one of the greatest North American darts players.
Joining Smith in the eight-player field are familiar faces such as Matt Campbell, Jules van Dongen, Danny Lauby, Stowe Buntz, and Alex Spellman, all of whom had already qualified for the tournament. The remaining three spots were decided through two qualifying events held over the past weekend.
In a thrilling finale, Canada’s Adam Sevada and American David Cameron emerged victorious, earning the final two spots in the prestigious championship. Sevada, who defeated the likes of Danny Baggish and John Part en route to the final, will be making his debut on the major stage, while Cameron proved too strong for Leonard Gates in the decisive match.
“The North American Darts Championship has a rich history, dating back to its inaugural edition in 2008, when Darin Young claimed the title. In the following years, Scotty Burnett (2009) and John Part (2010) were crowned champions, before the event went on a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament returned in 2018, with Jeff Smith emerging victorious, and he would go on to repeat his success in 2022.”
As the players make their final preparations, darts enthusiasts across North America eagerly await the start of the 2024 North American Darts Championship. The stage is set for an intense and thrilling competition, with the champion set to etch their name in the history books of the sport.
