Wessel Nijman Clinches Title at PDC Development Tour 2024 Ninth Tournament
On the ninth tournament of the PDC Development Tour 2024, Wessel Nijman clinched a clever victory, thanks to an impressive average of 113 in the final match against Niko Springer. Nijman’s journey to the title was marked by a series of impressive wins, including victories over Danny de Jong (4-0), Paul-Merlin Pfeifer (4-1), Nathan Rafferty (4-1), Jurjen van der Velde (4-3), Levy Frauenfelder (4-2), Gian van Veen (5-4), and Danny Jansen (5-4).
Notably, Nijman’s performance against Van der Velde was highlighted by an average of 106, yet the Dutchman saved his best game for the final. Despite falling behind 2-4 against Springer, Nijman staged a remarkable comeback, leveling the score at 4-4 with a 13-darter and a 14-darter, before clinching the title with a 12-darter.
The PDC Development Tour
The PDC Development Tour serves as the youth circuit, open to players aged 16 through 23, with the opportunity for those who turn 24 during the season to continue competing. Each tournament features a prize pool of 15,000 pounds, which contributes to a ranking that determines the top two-ranked players who receive:
- An invitation to the World Darts Championship
- A Tour Card for 2025 and 2026
- The chance for the top-ranked player to compete in the Grand Slam of Darts
