WDF Denmark Open: Scutt and Greaves Triumph in Singles Titles
On Saturday, the WDF Denmark Open witnessed triumphant performances as Connor Scutt and Beau Greaves clinched the singles titles. With the tournament holding gold status on the WDF calendar, Scutt’s victory immediately qualified him for the prestigious WDF World Championship.
Scutt’s journey to the men’s title was remarkable, as he navigated through a series of impressive wins. He defeated Patrick Heinsoe (4-2), Ole Jorgensen (4-0), Benjamin Pratnemer (4-1), Ben Hazel (4-2), Brian Lokken (4-1), Brian Raman (4-3), Mark Graham (5-3), and ultimately, Jimmy van Schie (6-1) in the final.
In the women’s tournament, Greaves lived up to her favorite status, dominating her opponents en route to the title. She dispatched Merete Kjaer (4-0), Janni Larsen (4-0), Anna Forsmark (4-0), Adriana van Wijgerden-Vermaat (4-0), Noa-Lynn van Leuven (4-0), and Lorraine Hyde (5-2) in the final.
The event was not without its notable moment, as Deta Hedman withdrew from her match against Noa-Lynn van Leuven, reportedly due to her stance against transgender participation in women’s tournaments.
“The WDF Denmark Open showcased the exceptional talents of Scutt and Greaves, cementing their positions as rising stars in the world of darts. As the tournament holds gold status, Scutt’s victory ensures his automatic qualification for the prestigious WDF World Championship, while Greaves, already a qualified player, continued to solidify her dominance in the sport.”
