Reigning Champion Cross Cruises Past Bialecki at Poland Darts Masters
Darts superstar Rob Cross continues his impressive run on the World Series of Darts circuit, securing a spot in the quarterfinals of the Poland Darts Masters. The former world champion effortlessly dispatched home player Sebastian Bialecki 6-1 in the opening round.
Cross wasted no time asserting his dominance, breaking his Polish opponent’s throw immediately in the first leg with a clinical 156 finish. The Englishman then extended his lead to 4-0, delivering a 75 checkout. While Bialecki managed to get on the scoreboard with a 16-darter, Cross closed out the match with a 20-dart leg and a 100 finish.
“I believe it flattered me a bit,” admitted Cross in his post-match interview. “All of a sudden I was 4-0 up and cruising. I’m not the biggest or best practiser in the world so I was a bit under par. But to get the finishes and get the win, I’m very happy with that.”
The darts star’s recent form has been exceptional, having won the US Darts Masters and reached the final at the Nordic Darts Masters last weekend, where he faced off against Gerwyn Price. “I’m sure he’s enjoying his holiday and I hope he is!” Cross laughed. “Gezzy deserved that win last week. He was the best player in the tournament.”
Cross now sets his sights on a quarterfinal clash with fellow Englishman Stephen Bunting, who defeated Polish number one Krzysztof Ratajski 6-1 in the opening round.
