Maik Kuivenhoven Cruises into the Second Round at the Baltic Sea Darts Open
Maik Kuivenhoven, the Dutch darts star, has convincingly qualified for the second round at the Baltic Sea Darts Open. In the first-round matchup, Kuivenhoven faced Euro Tour debutant Christopher Toonders, and the experienced Dutchman emerged victorious with a commanding 6-0 scoreline.
Throughout the encounter, Kuivenhoven showcased his prowess on the oche, posting an impressive average of 92 and a finish percentage of 50%. Unfortunately for Toonders, he struggled to capitalize on his chances, missing all four of his attempts at the doubles. Toonders had two chances to get on the scoreboard in the fifth leg, but couldn’t find a way to hit the vital double 12. Kuivenhoven then stepped up to the oche and secured the leg with a tops finish, making it 5-0. The match was concluded when Kuivenhoven used his fourth match dart, hitting double 19, to set up a second-round clash with former world champion Rob Cross.
In another exciting encounter at the Baltic Sea Darts Open, Sebastian Bialecki and Jose de Sousa engaged in a thrilling battle. De Sousa had initially taken a 3-1 lead, but Bialecki fought back to take a 5-4 advantage after nine legs. The Pole then missed three match darts, allowing De Sousa to force a final leg with an 80 finish. However, De Sousa was unable to capitalize, missing his only match dart on tops, and Bialecki eventually sealed the victory with his fourth match dart.
