Gian van Veen Climbs to the Top of the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit
Gian van Veen has taken the lead on the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit from Keane Barry after the second tournament weekend. After ten Development Tour events, ‘GVV The Giant’ stands at £9,350 in prize money, followed by Barry with £7,425, Wessel Nijman (£5,775), and Danny Jansen (£5,625).
Van Veen started the second tournament weekend of the Development Tour on Friday with a semifinal place, before winning the second tournament on Friday night. Saturday saw a quarterfinal finish and a spot in the last sixteen, before losing to Niko Springer in the final on Sunday.
The PDC Development Tour
The PDC Development Tour is the youth circuit of the Professional Darts Corporation. This tour is open to players aged 16 through 23, with those turning 24 during the season allowed to continue competing.
Each Development Tour tournament features a prize pool of £15,000, with the earnings contributing to the ranking system. At the end of the season, the top two players will receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship, along with a Tour Card for 2025 and 2026. The ranking winner will also earn a spot in the Grand Slam of Darts.
As the race for the top positions heats up, Gian van Veen has firmly established himself as the leader on the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit.
