Darts Enthusiasts Disappointed as Gerwyn Price Withdraws from Premier League Due to Injury
(May 11, 2023) – Darts fans were left disheartened as the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) announced that Gerwyn Price, the former world champion, will not be participating in the fourteenth round of the Premier League Darts tournament on Thursday night. The Welshman, known as ‘The Iceman,’ had to withdraw due to a persistent back injury.
Price had previously been unable to travel to Graz, Austria, for the Austrian Darts Open last week after suffering a pinched nerve in his back. Despite undergoing treatments to address the issue, the darts star is still not fit enough to make the journey to Scotland for the upcoming Premier League event.
As a result of Price’s withdrawal, his scheduled opponent, Luke Humphries, aka ‘Cool Hand Luke,’ will now receive a bye to the semifinals, earning two crucial points towards his overall tournament tally. Humphries will also gain an additional leg on his leg difference.
The absence of the former world champion is undoubtedly a disappointment for darts enthusiasts, who had been eagerly anticipating the clash between Price and Humphries. The Premier League Darts tournament continues to provide thrilling action, with players vying for the prestigious title and valuable ranking points.
