Darts Fans Thrilled as Luke Littler, Stephen Bunting, and Luke Humphries Advance to Poland Darts Masters Quarterfinals
The lineup for the quarterfinals of the Poland Darts Masters was completed on Friday night, with Luke Littler, Stephen Bunting, and Luke Humphries securing their spots in the prestigious tournament.
17-year-old English sensation Luke Littler had a brief scare, but the “The Nuke” quickly recovered to dominate his opponent. Littler, who had taken a family holiday in Orlando, showed no signs of rust, firing off a 12-darter and a 13-darter to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Though his Czech opponent Gawlas made a late comeback, Littler ultimately sealed the victory.
Stephen Bunting, known as “The Bullet,” faced off against Krzysztof Ratajski, the top darts player in Poland. However, it was not a night to remember for “The Polish Eagle,” as Ratajski struggled with his doubles, missing 11 of his 12 attempts. Bunting capitalized on this, racing to a 5-0 lead before Ratajski managed to salvage some pride with a 118 finish. Bunting then closed out the match with a 14-darter.
“Cool Hand Luke” Humphries also breezed through to the quarterfinals, conceding just one leg against Hungarian qualifier Gyorgy Jehirszki, winning the match 6-1.
The Poland Darts Masters is the fifth event of the 2023 World Series of Darts circuit. Earlier this year, Luke Littler won the Bahrain Darts Masters, while Michael van Gerwen triumphed at the Dutch Darts Masters. Rob Cross captured the title at the US Darts Masters in New York, and Gerwyn Price emerged victorious at the Nordic Darts Masters in Copenhagen. The World Series journey continues, with upcoming tournaments in Australia and New Zealand, before the World Series Finals take place in Amsterdam from September 13-15.
