Prominent Players Withdraw
No fewer than five competitors, including Gary Anderson, Luke Littler, Nathan Aspinall, Jonny Clayton, and Ryan Joyce, had to pull out of the tournament prior to the draw in Leverkusen.
Replacements Chosen
To fill the vacancies, the PDC selected the highest-ranked players who had lost their qualification matches in the final round of the Tour Card Holders Qualifier for this event. Ritchie Edhouse, Kevin Doets, Dylan Slevin, Jamie Hughes, and Ryan Meikle were the replacements chosen.
Reasons Remain Unclear
The reasons behind the withdrawals of the original five players remain unclear. However, it was noted that Anderson and Clayton will still travel to Germany next week to participate in the World Cup of Darts. For Aspinall, Littler, and Joyce, the upcoming Players Championship tournaments on July 2 and 3 are the next events on the PDC calendar.
